The KT-10 Magnetic Susceptibility and Conductivity meters come in a range of models to allow taking magnetic susceptibility and/or conductivity measurements of geological drill core, chip bags and rocks. The meters are available in either circular (orientation independent) or rectangular coil designs (to suit small diameter core or deep core trays). The KT-10 meters produce repeatable results, and include features such as corrections for the common sizes of full and split cores, the ability to input information to correlate measurements to their appropriate depths and GeoView software for data management and visualisation. With it’s compact and rugged design, the KT-10 meters are ideal instruments for use in the field, core shed and laboratory.
Benefits
- Stand-alone with LCD display and on-board data storage
- High sensitivity for magnetic susceptibility and conductivity
- Three modes of operation: discrete measurements, continuous scanning (20 readings per second), or borehole (correlate measurements to their depth in the borehole)
- Measure full or split core, rock samples, outcrop, chip bags or powdered samples.
- Full and Split core corrections for standard drill rod diameters (inc AQ, BQ, HQ, NQ, PQ and non-standard sizes 2.4 to 12 cm)
- Data running average and standard deviation values displayed during discrete measurements; data averages and maximum values provided during scanning
- Pin mode to measure samples with uneven surfaces (available with circular coil designs only)
- GeoView software to download, organise and visualise data on a Windows laptop
- Compatible with Geobank Software (available from Micromine, www.micromine.com)

GeoView PC Interface Software
Data Management
GeoView is a multi-platform software that allows users to organise their KT-10 data by unit serial number and date or measurement. It also facilitates the export of data for further correlation and interpretation. GeoView is compatible with the Windows operating system.
As presented below, averaged readings are grouped together with records (containing date, time, value, voice notes and optional GPS positions) in one convenient location. Users can also add new column headers to enter additional information specific to the data collection.
Data Visualisation
A numerical display allows users to quickly review the field data, while a graphical display aids in the interpretation of scanner data.
As shown below, the scanned data is displayed in a graphical mode. The use of markers can assist operators to orient the readings to a physical location.
Options:
- Magnetic Susceptibility ‘Plus’ Upgrade:
- Increase measurement range from 1999.99 to 9999.99 x 10^-3 (ie 10) SI units
- Magnetite iron ore concentration estimates (%) directly from the KT-10 LCD display
- Conductivity ‘Cx’ Upgrade:
- Increase measurement range from 100,000 to 200,000 S/m
- Magnetic Susceptibility Calibration Pads
- Two calibration pads are available to recalibrate the magnetic susceptibility measurements, or to verify the meter’s readings. The calibration pads are available in low and high values (‘high’ pads only suitable for Plus units)
- Conductivity Reference Pads
- Three reference pads are available to verify conductivity measurements. Each pad has been independently tested using different methods for measuring conductivity (AC, DC and impedance bridges). The reference pads are available with low, medium and high conductivity ranges
